Christian Friedrich August von Meding

Christian Friedrich August von Meding (* July 22, 1735 in Langenhagen ; † January 20, 1825 ) was the heir to Schnellenberg, later provost of Naumburg and hereditary land marshal in the Principality of Lüneburg, as well as genealogist and heraldist .

Life

Christian Friedrich August von Meding came from the old Lüneburg noble family von Meding . He was so weak at birth that he was given an emergency baptism , and he remained physically impaired throughout his life . His mental capacity, however, enjoyed excellent vitality, due to which he attended the University of Göttingen from 1753 .

His parents got him the right to the post of canon in Naumburg. After a trip to Paris with his childhood friend Ludwig Albrecht Gebhardi , he was accepted as canon at the Naumburg cathedral chapter in 1762 , after 47 years in this position, the 1806 chapter elected him provost .

After the death of his brother Lieutenant General Ernst August von Meding (1711–1794), he was introduced to the Lüneburg Marshal's Office on February 20, 1795, which his family inherited.
