Christian Friedrich von Deutsch (born September 28, 1768 in Frankfurt (Oder) , † April 17, 1843 in Dresden ) was a German medic. After teaching at the University of Erlangen , Deutsch was appointed professor for obstetrics at the Imperial University of Dorpat in 1805 . There he worked as rector from 1809 to 1810.

Life

Christian Friedrich von Deutsch lost his father at the age of eight. He moved to Halle with his mother and stepfather, attended school there and initially studied theology. From 1791 he studied medicine in Göttingen, Halle and Erlangen. In 1792 he was in hall under Kurt Sprengel Dr. med. doctorate and received from him permission to give lectures. From 1796 to 1804 he was associate professor for maternity studies in Erlangen and ran his own practice. From the summer of 1805 until his retirement in 1834, he was professor for maternity studies, women's diseases and childhood diseases at the University of Dorpat . There he held the office of dean in 1806, 1810, 1813 and 1820 and from 1808 to 1809 that of the rector of the medical faculty. In Erlangen he became a member of the Freemason Lodge Lebanon to the three Ceders .

Her first marriage from 1793 to 1810 with Sophie Friederike Goldhagen resulted in seven daughters and one son. In 1818 he married Christine von Sivers, with whom he had a second son. After the death of the second wife, he visited numerous insane asylums and healing springs while traveling through Germany from 1835 to 1839 and last lived widowed in Dresden, where he died on April 17, 1843.
