Christian Göbel (Sinologist)

Christian Göbel (born June 25, 1973 in Würzburg ) is a German political scientist and sinologist .

Life

From 1993 to 1995 he obtained the intermediate examination for teaching English, political science and sociology at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg . From 1995 to 1996 he studied Mandarin Chinese at Tamkang University and from 1996 to 1997 at the National Taiwan Normal University. From 1998 to 2002 he obtained a Magister Artium Political Science and Modern Sinology at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg . From 2003 to 2008 he obtained the Dr. phil. (summa cum laude) at the University of Duisburg-Essen . From 2003 to 2009 he was a research associate in Political Science / East Asian Studies in Duisburg - Essen . From 2009 to 2011 he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at East and South-East Asian Studies at Lund University . From 2011 to 2012 he was the professor of East Asian Politics at the University of Duisburg-Essen. From 2012 to 2013 he was senior lecturer for political science in Lund ; then junior professor for economics and society in China and East Asia in Heidelberg . Since February 2013 he has been Professor of Sinology with a social science focus at the Institute for East Asian Studies at the University of Vienna .

His main research interests are reform politics and policy innovation in China, rural politics in China, China's innovation system and comparative autocracy research, focus: innovation and autocracy.
