Marriage and manorial estate

The young entrepreneur of the porcelain manufactory in Plaue , who lives in Arnstadt , married the daughter of Friedrich Gotthardt Bertuch, the owner of the Dornheim manor , around 1810 . After the marriage he built a cheese dairy , a spirits distillery and a vinegar factory on the in-laws' estate to refine part of the harvested vegetable products.

The porcelain factory

In 1817 he took over the Plaue porcelain manufacture south of Arnstadt and relocated part of the production to Dornheim. Later, his son Julius Adelbert took a share in the company, which from then on was called CG Schierholz und Sohn . The younger son Hugo was later accepted as a co-owner. Porcelain was painted, fired and shipped in Dornheim for 18 years.

While his parents were still alive, Julius Adelbert, the eldest son, inherited the manor and, in equal measure, the porcelain factory and the house in Arnstadt with Hugo.
