Christian Haidinger OSB (* 12. March 1944 in Siezenheim ) is an Austrian Benedictine - Abbot and first chairman of the Superior Conference of male religious orders of Austria .

Life

Christian Haidinger came after his graduation at Stiftsgymnasium Kremsmünster in 1964 the Congregation of Benedictine in Kremsmünster in. In 1965 he made his profession , in 1968 the solemn vows. On July 6, 1969, he received by Cardinal Benno Gut the priesthood . He studied theology at the Papal Athenaeum Sant'Anselmo from 1966 to 1970 . He was pastor of Buchkirchen , since 2000 dean of the Wels-Land dean's office and since 2004 general dean of the diocese of Linz .

On May 9, 2005, he was elected as the successor to Bernhard Naber as abbot of Altenburg Abbey , which he headed until his 70th birthday on March 12, 2014. On September 11, 2006, the Benediction took place by Bishop Klaus Küng , in the same year he was elected President of Klösterreich , an interest group of the monasteries, monasteries and orders of Austria.

After the death of Abbot President Clemens Lashofer on July 6, 2009, he was the first assistant to the Abbot President and headed the Austrian Benedictine Congregation ad interim . On November 18, 2009, he was elected Abbot President by an extraordinary General Chapter in Kremsmünster Abbey and confirmed in the General Chapter in the Caniusheim Center in Horn on October 26, 2011. On October 25, 2017, Abbot Johannes Perkmann , Benedictine Abbey Michaelbeuern , was elected as his successor as Abbot President.

On November 25, 2013, Haidinger was elected as the successor to Provost Maximilian Fürnsinn as the first chairman of the Superior Conference of male religious orders in Austria. On October 6, 2015, he presented his book Go, where I am sending you! in front.
