Christian Heinrich Hanson
Johann Christian Heinrich Hanson (born April 11, 1790 in Altona ; † April 18, 1863 there ) was a German painter.
Life
Christian Heinrich Hanson grew up in the Altona orphanage and was initially trained as a weaver and then learned the painting trade. He moved to Stralsund and made himself known there through his paintings . An activity as a drawing teacher in Celle followed and was sacrificed to the wandering life of a clown in the Wolff circus. Then he began to paint again and wandered via Vienna , from there to Rome together with the painter Johan Bravo (1796–1876), who was also from Altona. Here, for a fee, he painted pictures for wealthy scholarship holders who sent them home as evidence of their own artistic work. At the same time, he continued his self-taught training. The budget counselor Bernhard Donner supported him financially during his second stay in Rome, where he can be traced from 1828 to 1832 and where he made contact with some Nazarenes . After visiting Naples and Milan, Hanson worked in Munich from 1833 to 1845 . It was here that it really flourished and painted the Agnes room at Hohenschwangau Castle for Crown Prince Maximilian . In 1845 he worked in Carinthia, where he created large-scale paintings on the gallery and in the winter choir of St. Paul Abbey in Lavanttal . Then he turned back to Italy, from where he returned to Altona in 1848 with a serious eye problem. He died blind in poor circumstances.
