Christian John (born April 5, 1993 in Eisenhüttenstadt ) is a German wrestler . It was 2012 junior European champion in Greco-Roman wrestling in heavyweight .

Career

Christian John started wrestling in Eisenhüttenstadt in 2000. His first club he started for was the RC 74 from Eisenhüttenstadt . He later started in the Bundesliga for RSV Hansa Frankfurt (Oder) and in the 2012/13 season for 1. Luckenwalder SC . He was or is mainly trained by Jörn Levermann and Andreas Zabel. The student with the nickname "Bärchen" has meanwhile grown into the heavyweight division and weighs just under 120 kg with a height of 1.86 meters.

His first major success at national level in the junior division came in 2009 when he became German runner-up in the A-Youth (international: "Cadets") in the weight class up to 100 kg. In 2010 and 2012 he was German junior champion and in 2011 German junior runner-up in the heavyweight division. In 2011 he came in second place behind Nico Schmidt from RSV Frankfurt (Oder) at the German heavyweight championship for senior citizens , but in 2012 he only achieved 7th place in this championship.

In 2010 he started at an international championship for the first time. He won a bronze medal at the European Junior Championships (Cadets) in Sarajevo in the weight class up to 100 kg. At the European Junior Championships 2011 in Zrenjanin, he came in 5th place in the heavyweight division. The greatest success in his career so far came in 2012 at the European Junior Championships in Zagreb . He won there in the heavyweight division before Lewan Arabuli, Georgia , Bálint Lám , Hungary and Ali Nail Arslan from Turkey . He did less well at the Junior World Championships this year in Pattaya . He had to accept narrow point defeats against Bálint Lám and Miloslaw Metodiew, Bulgaria , and therefore only came in 15th place.

He achieved two notable victories in the Ringer Bundesliga in autumn 2012. He shouldered u. a. the former Czech World Cup third place David Vála , AC Lichtenfels and the Estonian silver medalist from the Olympic Games 2012 in London Heiki Nabi , KSV Köllerbach .
