Duke Christian Karl of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Plön-Norburg (born August 20, 1674 in Magdeburg , † May 23, 1706 in Sonderburg ) was a Brandenburg-Prussian officer.

Life

Christian Karl was the younger son of August von Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Norburg-Plön and Elisabeth Charlotte von Anhalt-Harzgerode . He started his career as an officer and on November 30, 1697 became a Brandenburg colonel. On January 14, 1705 he was appointed Prussian major general.

After the death of Duke August and the accession of Duke Joachim Friedrich in 1699, he only received the goods Søbygård and God's gift on Ærø as Paragium, which formerly belonged to his uncle Bernhard von Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Plön .

Marriage and family

Christian Karl married on February 20, 1702 in the Curti-Schloss zu Umstadt Dorothea Christina von Aichelberg (* January 23, 1674 - June 22, 1762), the daughter of Johann Franz von Aichelberg, bailiff of Norburg. The unequal and secret marriage led to a comparison with his ruling brother, in which Christian Karl renounced the princely rights for his descendants and took the family name of Karlstein . The couple had the following children:

Christian Karl died of the leaves . He was first buried in Norburg. After his son Friedrich Karl became Duke of Schleswig-Holstein-Plön after a long succession dispute , he had the body transferred to the royal crypt in Plön.
