Christian Ludwig Stieglitz (born August 17, 1677 in Leipzig ; † July 28, 1758 in Leipzig) was a German lawyer , councilor and several times mayor of Leipzig between 1741 and 1757 .

Stieglitz was born in Leipzig in 1677 as the son of Melchior Stieglitz (1629–1692), senior court attorney and imperial notary, and Christina Lenz. He attended the Thomas School . After graduating from high school, he studied law at the University of Leipzig . There he earned his Dr. jur. In 1715 he was elected councilor and in 1720 became an assessor in the law faculty of Leipzig University.

In 1725 Stieglitz became a city ​​judge and in 1732 a builder and proconsul . In 1733 he had his house at Markt 13 (formerly Rothauptscher Hof, later called Stieglitzens Hof ) merge from two existing houses into one and provided it with a Renaissance facade. In 1741 he rose to senior in the law faculty. He was also the Royal Polish and Electoral Saxon Council of Appeal and Head of the Thomas School in Leipzig. From 1741 to 1742 Stieglitz continued the business of the mayor of the city of Leipzig Adrian Steger (1660–1741) on a temporary basis. He then successfully stood for election and was mayor in the usual three-year rhythm in 1744/45, 1747/48, 1750/51, 1753/54 and 1756/57.

Stieglitz was married twice. First marriage in 1708 with Johanna Rosina Winckler, daughter of the businessman Daniel Winckler and in second marriage in 1719 with Erdmuthe Sophia Döring († 1765), daughter of the Dresden master goldsmith Gottfried Döring. He died on July 28, 1758 at the age of 80 in Leipzig.

The second marriage had three children:

  • Erdmuthe Sophie Stieglitz (1726–1787) married (1763) to the merchant and banker Christian Gottlob Frege (1715–1781)
