Christian Nienhaus (born September 21, 1976 in Gelsenkirchen ) is a German artist who deals with free painting and kinetic art .

life and work

After graduating, Nienhaus completed his studies as a design assistant with a focus on graphic and object design at the Academy for Fashion & Design in Düsseldorf. He then studied fine art at the Ruhr Academy from 1999 to 2002. Christian Nienhaus lives and works as a freelance artist in Gelsenkirchen-Buer .

On the occasion of the 2006 soccer world championship , Christian Nienhaus created an art object called Earth Being : continents are moving further and further apart. By joining the continents one understands that the game in particular paves a way to overcome borders and conflicts. After the continents move one after the other out of the sphere with the help of hydraulic lifting motors, they contract together again. With this kinetic globe, Nienhaus wanted to draw attention to the political situation of the people.

In 2009, Nienhaus tried out a new type of art communication : he presented himself live on the Internet and asked humanity to send him inspiration , which was projected synchronously onto a screen via a projector . With this performance , Nienhaus reached thousands of people worldwide.

Users from all over the world sent "inspirations" in the form of images, text and music. These elements were passed to an operator and media designer "Maik Breilmann" by the artist and projected onto the screen. The art action lasted 3½ hours and integrated over 200 different "inspirations" into a work of art.
