Christian Retzer (born January 7, 1982 in Deggendorf ) is a former German ice hockey player who was used as a defender and striker . His brother Stephan was also an ice hockey player and was under contract with ERC Ingolstadt until 2012 .
Career
At the age of six, Christian Retzer took a serious look at ice hockey for the first time. He played his first important game at the age of 16 with the Deggendorfer Flames. In his hometown club, Retzer developed his skills to such an extent that three years later he was able to switch to the DEL to the Kassel Huskies . With the Hessians, the Bavarian first reached the finals twice before relegating the team in 2005. With the EHC Wolfsburg's license revocation, the huskies had the chance to remain in the league, but by then Christian Retzer had already signed a contract with the Nürnberg Ice Tigers . There the trained striker got the opportunity to gain further experience and moved to Straubing at the beginning of the 2006/07 season , but ended as a defender. The man from Deggendorf managed to switch from striker to defender so well that he was permanently employed in this position in the Straubinger team in the 2007/08 season . After four years in Straubing, his contract with the first division club was not extended. Retzer then trained with the second division team Landshut Cannibals , where he finally received a contract and played for the first time on the fifth day of the 2010/11 season for the three helmets city. In the summer of 2011 he left the Cannibals and returned to his hometown club Deggendorf Fire in the league, where he ended his active career.
He has been working in the office of his former club Straubing Tigers since October 1st, 2016 . Previously, he had completed a dual degree in health management parallel to his commitment in Deggendorf.

With the German junior national teams he took part in the U18 World Cup in 2000 and the U20 World Cup in 2002 . So far he has also been on the ice once for the senior national team in a game against Slovenia.
