Christian dirt
Christian Schmutz (born February 19, 1970 in Tafers ) is a Swiss journalist , writer and dialectologist .
Life
Dirt grew up in the Sense district in Freiburg . He completed his studies in German and communication science at the cantonal university in 1995 with a licentiate. Today he lives in the city of Freiburg .
Since 2000, Schmutz has been working as a part-time editor for the Freiburger Nachrichten and since 2006 as a part-time dialect editor for Radio SRF .
Create
Professionally and outside of work, Schmutz's work is particularly dedicated to his German-Franconian homeland. In addition to his journalistic activities, he writes on local history and local dialectal topics and writes slam poetry in his native dialect. One of his novels and two of his spoken word texts were released on phonograms.
In addition, the initiator of the gastro and cultural project is Wier Seisler, which took over the Taferser Gasthof St. Martin in 2011. Since 2012 he has been the president of its cultural sector.
Dialectology
In accordance with a concept presented by Walter Haas , Schmutz developed the 700-page Sensler German Dictionary, which appeared for the first time in 2000 and has since seen two new editions. This dictionary is the most scientifically sound of all Swiss-German regional dictionaries and, in addition to the dissertation published in 1927 by Walter Henzen and the eight-volume linguistic atlas of German-speaking Switzerland, forms the basis for research into the highest Alemannic Senslerdeutsch .
Since 2010, Schmutz has also been writing popular word stories for the Sensler Museum in Tafers, which are published on the museum's website as Word of the Month . From 2012 to 2015 he blogged in the Freiburger Nachrichten on linguistic issues, and for Promoting Page fribourg.ch he created a humorous Seislertütsch crash course . In 2019 his book Gang ga ggùgge was published. Finally understand Senslerdeutsch .
literature
So far, Schmutz has written two historical novels, When the Night Birds Circled (2007 - now in its third edition) and Bachab. Falli Hölli disappears (2012). The material for another book, mirror images. Life stories from Freiburg (2014), he compiled together with Daniel Fasel using the oral history method . In his first story, D Seisler hiis böös (2017), the self-awareness of the Germans in the Sense district is targeted .
He is also co-author of four plays (2009, 2013, 2015, 2017) with Mark Kessler, one of which, D Hindercher-Banda, was played three seasons in a row. Also Kalendergeschichten , cabaret and lyrics written by him.
Slam poetry
After all, dirt is active in the slam poetry scene. He calls himself Slämsler (merged from Släm and Seisler ), as his texts are written in Senslerdeutsch (Seislertütsch) . Since 2009 he has been writing and presenting one or two such spoken word projects a year. The whole evening was Senslerdeutsch soundet right (2010), and language games on Röstigraben (2014) and dialect for Welsche (2015) had a special thrust .
