Since 1996, Vander has been touring again with Magma in changing line-ups.

style

He is known for his virtuoso drumming as well as his singing and piano playing. He reached number 100 in Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 100 best drummers of all time . As a composer, he was influenced by rock, jazz, classical and opera . Vander's music can roughly be described as progressive rock , but his style is so unique that he created his own genre, the Zeuhl , with it. Zeuhl is Kobaian , an artificial language that Vander developed for his band Magma, and means "heavenly". It is short for zeuhl wortz , heavenly music.

instrument

Vander plays a Gretsch drum set from the early 1970s and uses Zildjian K-cymbals.
