Christian Walter (musician)

Christian Walter (* 1962 in Oldenburg ) is a German bassoonist , recorder player and hurdy-gurdy player .

Live and act

Walter first studied recorder at the Hamburg University of Music . This was followed by studies at the Conservatory in The Hague and at the Academy for Early Music in Bremen in the subject of historical bassoon instruments with Michael McCraw and Donna Agrell.

As a soloist, he regularly participates in new forms of musical performance and opera arrangements. He is the soloist in an arrangement of Mozart's Die Zauberflöte in a version for two musicians and a narrator. He also appeared as a soloist with the KOBALT Puppet Theater Lübeck in an adaptation of the opera The Barber of Seville by Gioacchino Rossini . He usually realizes these projects together with the bassoon duo satyros, which he and Adrian Rovatkay founded in 1999 .

Since 2010 he has been studying the baroque hurdy-gurdy , the vielle with Matthias Loibner . With this instrument he shows himself as an improviser and theater musician, for example in the Commedia dell'arte production with the director David Zubuchen. As a guest he works on various projects and a. the following ensembles and orchestras with: Musica Fiata, Cantus Cölln , Aperto, Main-Barockorchester.

Walter has lived in Berlin since 1993 . He is a regular bassoonist in the L'arco Orchestra (Hanover).
