Christian Wanner

Christian Wanner (born July 27, 1947 in Messen SO ; authorized to reside there) is a Swiss politician ( FDP ).

From 1977 to 1985 Wanner was in the Solothurn Cantonal Council and at the same time governor of the community of Messen, which he remained until 1989. From 1989 to 1995 he was mayor of trade fairs. From 1983 to 1995 he was also a member of the National Council . In 1995 he was elected to the Solothurn government council, where he headed the finance department until his resignation at the end of July 2013. During this time he was Landammann three times .

As a representative of the canton of Solothurn, Wanner was Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Alpiq energy group . In 2013, Wanner came under fire because he legally kept more than CHF 100,000 in attendance fees from this mandate from 2012 for himself. In December 2013, the Solothurn Cantonal Council subsequently passed a law according to which attendance fees must in future be transferred in full to the state treasury.

From 2008 to mid-May 2013 he was President of the Conference of Cantonal Finance Directors (FDK), followed by Finance Director Peter Hegglin from Zug . He is chairman of the board of directors of Privatklinik Obach AG, member of the board of directors of Kernkraftwerk Gösgen-Däniken AG and Aare Energie AG (a.en). At AZ Medien he is on the journalistic advisory board. Wanner writes a column in the associated newspaper az Nordwestschweiz . Wanner chaired the ch Foundation for Federal Cooperation and the Institute Council of the Institute for Federalism at the University of Freiburg .

The master farmer Wanner lives in Messen, is married and has a grown son.
