Peter Hegglin (born December 25, 1960 in Edlibach , Menzingen municipality ; resident in Menzingen) is a Swiss politician ( CVP ).

biography

Hegglin is a trained farmer with a federal master's degree and was farm manager from 1987 to 2002. From 1994 to 2002 he was President of the Zug Farmers Association and from 1996 to 2002 as Vice President of the Swiss Farmers Association . He is married, has four children and lives in Edlibach.

From 1991 to 2002 he was the Cantonal Councilor of Zug and in this function was President of the Spatial Planning Commission and head of the CVP parliamentary group. From 2000 to 2002 he also served as Menzingen's municipal councilor and chief construction officer. From 2000 to 2003 he was a member of the Advisory Commission on Agriculture of the Federal Council .

In January 2003, Hegglin took over finance management as the newly elected Zug government councilor . In 2006, 2010 and 2014 he was confirmed in his office, all times with the best result. In the 2009/2010 year of office, he presided over the governing council as Mayor . From 2008 to 2013 he was Vice-President of the Conference of Cantonal Finance Directors (FDK), and from mid-May 2013 to January 2016 he was President (as the successor to Christian Wanner ).

In the elections in autumn 2015 he was elected to the Council of States , whereupon he resigned from the government council. His seat there was taken over by Martin Pfister .
