Thomas Aeschi (born January 13, 1979 in Zug ; legal resident in Baar , Himmelried and Basel ) is a Swiss politician ( SVP ).

biography

Aeschi grew up as the eldest of three sons in Zug. He attended the Zug Cantonal School from 1991 and completed an exchange year at the Lisle Senior High School in Chicago in 1995/96 . In 1998 he obtained the type B Matura . In the same year he began to study economics at the University of St. Gallen (with semesters abroad in Malaysia and Israel ), which he graduated in 2002 with a licentiate .

From 2004 to 2006 Aeschi worked in the area of mergers and acquisitions for the major Swiss bank Credit Suisse . From 2006 to 2008 he completed a degree at the John F. Kennedy School of Government , which he completed with a Master of Public Administration (MPA). Aeschi has been working as a management consultant for the international strategy consulting firm Strategy & since 2008 .

Aeschi lives in Baar. In the Swiss army he holds the rank of first lieutenant .

politics

Aeschi has been President of SVP Canton Zug since 2015 , previously he was Vice President from 2011 to 2015. From 2009 to 2015 he was President of SVP Baar. From 2010 to 2012 he was a member of the Cantonal Council . In the National Council elections in 2011 , he was elected to the National Council. In November 2015, the SVP parliamentary group of the Federal Assembly nominated him as an official candidate for the 2015 Federal Council elections . Was elected Guy Parmelin . In November 2017 he was elected parliamentary group president of the SVP.
