Christiane Pieper

Christiane Pieper (* 1962 in Bergisches Land ) is a German comic artist and illustrator .

life and work

Christiane Pieper grew up as the second daughter of a farmer and a church organist on a farm. After completing a preliminary diploma in psychology, she studied visual communication in Kassel and Düsseldorf .

Pieper has been illustrating children's and non-fiction books and novels for young people for publishers in Germany and abroad since 1993. Since then she has illustrated a total of over 40 books.

She has also conducted drawing workshops in Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India.

style

Pieper is particularly interested in capturing moods and movement in her images and this reveals the humor in the situations she portrays. Because of her childhood on a farm, she has a special interest in animals and their symbolism for humanity.
