Christine de Rivoyre

Christine de Rivoyre (born November 29, 1921 in Tarbes ; † January 3, 2019 ) was a French writer and journalist .

Career

De Rivoyre studied English and American studies at the Sorbonne and at Syracuse University and worked as a journalist for Le Monde, among others, and was the literary editor of Marie Claire until 1966 . After that she devoted herself mainly to writing. She lived in Paris and Onesse-Laharie .

In 1955 she published her first novel, L'Alouette au miroir , which received the Prix des Quatre Juries. Three of her novels were filmed ( La Mandarine from 1957, filmed in 1971 by Édouard Molinaro with Annie Girardot and Philippe Noiret , Les Sultans from 1964, filmed in 1966 by Jean Delannoy with Gina Lollobrigida , Le Petit matin from 1968, filmed in 1971 by Jean-Gabriel Albicocco , with Mathieu Carrière and Catherine Jourdan ). Her novel Le petit matin received the Prix ​​Interallié and deals with a love story during the German occupation between a German officer and a French woman in the Landes . Many of her works are set in the Landes and she campaigned for nature conservation there.

She was an officer of the Legion of Honor and commander of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres .

She has received several prizes from the Académie francaise: in 1956 the Prix Max Barthou (for her first novel), in 1979 the Prix Pierre de Régnier for her complete works and in 1984 the Grand Prix de Littérature Paul Morand. In 1982 she received the Prince-Pierre-de-Monaco Prix.

She was on the jury of the Prix ​​Médicis .

Christine de Rivoyre died in early January 2019 at the age of 97.
