Christo Bajew (born August 15, 1922 in Dobromirka , Sbarasch district , Galicia , Austria-Hungary ; † August 26, 1983 in Koblenz ) was a Bulgarian opera and operetta singer with a tenor voice .

Life

Christo Bajew was born into a large Bulgarian merchant family. After graduating from high school, he wanted to become a clergyman , which is why he began studying theology . At a seminary concert he sang a solo heard by Count Molny, a member of the Berlin Tobis film company . He got Bajew to come to Germany. At the Music Academy in Dresden Baev completed a comprehensive musical and vocal studies with Kammersänger Fritz Vogel current and received a beginner's commitment at the Dresden Semper Opera . He stayed there until 1945. After that, the theaters in Wiesbaden and Munich engaged him. The singer took up residence in the Rhineland and in 1949 entered into a long-term commitment to the Koblenz Opera House. From there he appeared as a guest in a wide-ranging repertoire on many stages at home and abroad. Soon he was able to establish himself as one of the leading and popular radio broadcasters , with Südfunk in rather dramatic opera roles , with WDR , NDR , HR mostly as an operetta hero in over two dozen complete recordings. Until 1971 he was the focus of annual operetta performances on the open-air stage in the Rhine near Koblenz. His extensive repertoire covered the most diverse stylistic epochs and areas of origin.

Bajew initially had problems with the German language and, because of his stocky, overweight figure, was not the ideal image of a performer among tenor lovers, but his voice had the character of a real Spinto tenor .

From 1962 he headed a singing school with an opera studio in Koblenz.
