Christophorus Corner

Christoph Corner (also Korner or Körner , Latinized Cornerus ; * 1518 in Buchen (Odenwald) , † April 14, 1594 in Frankfurt (Oder) ) was a German university professor and general superintendent.

Life

Christoph Corner came to the University of Frankfurt an der Oder at the age of 15 , received his master's degree here in 1537 and soon afterwards a professorship in the philosophical faculty. In 1560 he succeeded Georg Sabinus as professor of eloquence. Appointed professor of theology in 1573, he took part with Andreas Musculus in 1576 in Torgau and a year later in Kloster Berge in the negotiations for the drafting of the concord formula . After the death of Musculus (1581) Corner became general superintendent of the Mark Brandenburg .

A few months after his father's death, his son of the same name was executed with the sword for “gross offenses”.

Of Corner's theological works, a commentary on the Psalms , published in both Latin and German, had the greatest response.
