Christoph Friedrich I. von Bismarck (born February 24, 1652 in Havelberg , † December 24, 1704 in Schönhausen ) was a Prussian major general and commander of the Küstrin Fortress , as well as the first Prussian general of the Bismarck family and heir of Schönhausen, Fischbeck and Renitz.

Life

His parents were Valentin Busso von Bismark (born September 15, 1613; † May 17, 1679) and his first wife Anna Katharina von Bardeleben († March 5, 1672).

He began his career in Dutch service and fought in 1674 at Sennef against Prince Louis II of Condé . After the battle of Fehrbellin he was allowed to bring the captured flags and standards of the Swedes into the residence. As a result, he fought against the Swedes, so he acted as major in 1678 in the brief conquest of the island of Rügen . This was rewarded with an increase in ranks and the enfeoffment of parts of the estate in Schönhausen in 1685. Christoph Friedrich belonged to the auxiliary power that the Brandenburg Elector Friedrich Wilhelm sent to the emperor and took part in the siege of Ofen , today's Budapest .

He became a colonel in the Marwitz Regiment on June 29, 1690. In addition, on October 4, 1690, he was in command of the Küstrin Fortress. He received his promotion to major general on May 10, 1704. He died on December 24, 1704. He was buried in the village church of Schönhausen on February 13, 1705.

His epitaph can still be found today in the church in Schönhausen in the Altmark.

family

He was married twice. His first wife was Margarethe von der Asseburg on January 24, 1681 (* February 24, 1652, † December 18, 1698). The couple had five sons and eight daughters, including:

  • Busso Ludwig (born January 29, 1682; † 1714)
  • Ludolf August (March 21, 1683 - October 15, 1750), Russian lieutenant general
  • Christoph Friedrich II. (1686–1688)
  • Georg Friedrich III. (June 13, 1696; † 1737)

His second was on January 21, 1700 Margarethe Helene von Wulffen (* July 4, 1670; † around 1746) from the House of Tempelberg. She was the daughter of Georg Rudolf von Wulffen. The couple had a daughter Anna Margarete von Bismarck (1702–1704).
