Ludolf August von Bismarck ( Russian Лудольф (Рудольф) Август фон Бисмарк transcribed Ludolf (Rudolf) Awgust fon Bismark * 21st March 1683 in Prussian Holland ; † October 4 jul. / 15. October 1750 greg. In Poltava , Russia ) was a general in the Russian Army .
Life
Ludolf August came from the Schönhausen line of the Bismarck family . His parents were the Prussian major general Christoph Friedrich von Bismarck (1652–1704) and his first wife Luise Margarete von der Asseburg (1652–1698): He initially served in the Prussian army .
After stabbing his servant to death as a colonel in Magdeburg , he fled the garrison . However, this had no criminal consequences, he was only hindered in his career insofar as he was passed over three times for promotions. This prompted Bismarck to say goodbye, to sell the Skotik estate in East Prussia and to go to Russia in 1732 .
He was welcomed in Russia, Biron made him major general and also gave him his sister-in-law, Trotta von Treiden , as his wife. This second marriage remained childless. In 1733 Tsarina Anna gave him a house in Saint Petersburg and awarded him the rank of lieutenant general . The following year, Bismarck was sent to England on a diplomatic mission . Later he took part in the wars against the Turks and against Poland . During this time he became Vice President of the War Council in the War Ministry and Governor of Riga . When the duke elections in Courland in 1737, Bismarck went to Mitau with two regiments , occupied the polling station and forced Biron to vote. For this he was appointed Governor General of Livonia and promoted to General-en-Chef .
When Biron was overthrown in 1740, Bismarck was also arrested, his property was confiscated and a trial was held in Ivangorod , which ended with his exile to Siberia . On January 1st, Jul. / January 12th 1741 greg. he set out for this via Moscow to Tobolsk . He was later assigned to Yaroslavl as his residence.
In 1747 he was recalled. He took command of the Southern Army (the so-called Ukrainian Army).
Ludolf August von Bismarck died in Poltava in October 1750.
family
In 1704 he married Johanna Margareta von der Asseburg (* July 6, 1695, † 1719) with whom he had the daughter Albertine Luise von Bismarck . She later married the royal Prussian major Friedrich Wilhelm von der Albe († February 17, 1758). After the death of his first wife, he married on May 26, 1733 in St. Petersburg, the Baroness Katharine von Trotta called Treyden (* 1705; † February 20, 1780). This marriage was without children.
