Ludolf August von Bismarck (born October 2, 1834 in Magdeburg , † December 17, 1924 in Briest ) was a German politician and governor of the Stendal district .

Life

He came from the Altmark noble family Bismarck and was a son from the first marriage of Wilhelm von Bismarck . Ludolf studied law at the University of Greifswald and the Georg-August University of Göttingen . In 1857 he became a member of the Corps Pomerania Greifswald (1857) and the Corps Saxonia Göttingen . After his father's death, from 1877 onwards he managed the Briest estate near Tangerhütte . The Welle estate near Stendal also belonged to his property .

From 1864 to 1898 Bismarck was district administrator of the Stendal district, where he campaigned for an improvement in the infrastructure. He was a member and chairman of the municipal council of the Altmark and governor of the Altmark. He was also a member of the provincial parliament of the province of Saxony . Bismarck was chairman of the Altmärkisches Museumverein from 1886 until his death and played a major role in the establishment of the Altmärkisches Museum in 1888 , to which he also sent pieces from his private collection.

Magdeburg country fire society

From 1864 Bismarck was the district fire society director of the Magdeburgische Land-Feuersozietät for the district of Stendal, later also deputy and deputy general director. He repeatedly took over the management of the fire society and created the financial basis for the construction of an administration building. In order to honor him for his fifty years of service, the general director of the fire society, v. Krosigk, Ludolf von Bismarck on April 18, 1914 a splendid "honorary address" (certificate); In addition, his portrait was hung in the conference room of the fire society as a lasting memory.
