Christoph Georgi

Christoph Georgi (born June 27, 1932 in Bockau ; † June 24, 2019 in  Schneeberg ) was a German photographer who became known for his numerous contributions to book publications on the Ore Mountains and Vogtland .

Georgi, who comes from the Erzgebirge village of Bockau, trained as a photographer with Franz Fiedler in Dresden after the Second World War . He ran a photo shop in Schneeberg, where he also sold his own postcards. Together with Manfred Blechschmidt and Klaus Walther , he wrote more than twenty picture-text volumes, with Georgi mainly contributing the illustrations. He was also involved in numerous years of the house and home calendar for the Ore Mountains and Vogtland . His photographic work is a lasting testimony to the landscape, the regional handicrafts and the worlds of life in the Ore Mountains in the second half of the 20th century.

Georgi died in June 2019 a few days before his 87th birthday.
