Christoph Graf (* 1961 in Pfaffnau , Canton Lucerne ) is a Swiss officer in foreign service. Since February 2015 he has been the 35th commander of the Pontifical Swiss Guard in the Vatican .

Life

Christoph Graf, one of nine siblings from a family from Pfaffnau in the canton of Lucerne , initially worked for Swiss Post . In 1987 he joined the Pontifical Swiss Guard. In 2010 he was appointed by Pope Benedict XVI. promoted to Vice Commandant and Deputy Daniel Anrigs . Earlier, Count was a captain and instructor of the recruits. As Vice Commandant he was the commandant's first advisor and external liaison officer. He was also chief of staff and responsible for controlling . He is one of the few professional officers in the Guard.

On February 1, 2015, Pope Francis appointed him ad interim commander and on February 7, 2015, finally, commander of the Swiss Guard with the rank of colonel .

He is married and has two children. Graf's place of origin is Pfaffnau .
