Christoph Heinrich Zollinger (born October 14, 1939 ) is a Swiss publicist , social critic and local politician .

Education and career

Zollinger completed a commercial apprenticeship at the Migros Cooperative Association in Zurich from 1955 to 1958 . After further training in Lausanne and San Francisco , Zollinger worked on food retail concepts for the discounter Denner , the cash & carry wholesale store Metro Cash & Carry and the first Swiss integrated food departments in department stores ( Jelmoli , Globus Delicatessa). As an independent consultant in the food retail sector, he said he was later significantly involved in the first Swiss motorway shops and the planning of the Aperto train station chain .

Journalistic activity

Zollinger represents the implementation of a holistic awareness in everyday life in the footsteps of the cultural philosopher Jean Gebser . According to him, the responsibility of the individual towards society and history can only be achieved through a transparent society that makes the consequences of his actions understandable to everyone at all times, but at the same time gives everyone affected a voice. Zollinger adopted the term “integral society” for this social utopia . His thesis is that real changes in behavior cannot be enforced by laws , but must begin in the mind of the individual citizen.

In his writings he advocates the responsibility of the responsible citizen and opposes the - in his opinion - widespread populism in Switzerland . He is of the opinion that Switzerland needs to be reformed soon in the wake of globalization . Zollinger has been writing articles for the online newspaper Journal21 since 2012 . A selection of articles from Zollinger's column «100x durchschaut!» is now in his latest book «Change of Perspective. Focus on the future. " made accessible.

Local political activity

Zollinger was a member of Kilchberg's municipal council (executive) from 1994 to 2002 .

painting

Zollinger has been painting since 1965, inspired by the techniques of Mark Rothko. He also names Pablo Picasso as the greatest influence in his painting. Zollinger shows his pictures on his website. In his 2017 book «Change of Perspectives. Focus on the future. " 46 pictures complement Zollinger's written theses, as the author explains: "Transparency, overcoming dualism and correspondingly realizing wholeness, these important topics of our eventful epoch, I paint these pictures in my books and describe them in my pictures."
