Journal21 is a Swiss online newspaper in which around 80 experienced and some very well-known journalists work. Journal21 was founded in the summer of 2010 by the former editor-in-chief of the Tagesschau, Heiner Hug . The journal is operated without profit .

According to its own statements, the journalistic portal is aimed at readers who are willing to consume sophisticated texts. Journal21 would like to provide in-depth analyzes, comments and background reports on current political, economic and cultural events. Occasionally, articles are also published in French, English and Italian. Journal21 also organizes information evenings on current political events.

Journal21 is an association registered in the commercial register of the Canton of Zurich. Heiner Hug (President), Alex Bänninger, Reinhard Meier, Urs Meier, Ignaz Staub and Stephan Wehowsky sit on the board .

Authors

The author tribe includes former editors-in-chief, editorial managers, department heads, correspondents and editors who have worked or are still working for large Swiss and German media houses. Among them are many former editors of the Neue Zürcher Zeitung , the Tages-Anzeiger , radio and television as well as several emeritus professors, a former federal judge - but also younger authors. All work free of charge.
