Christoph Jeremias Rost

Christoph Jeremias Rost (born July 10, 1718 in Grimma , † January 13, 1790 in Bautzen ) was a German philologist and educator .

Life

Rost was born in Grimma in 1718 as the son of the merchant Jeremias Rost. He attended the Princely School of St. Augustin in Grimma. He then studied from 1737 to 1743 at the University of Leipzig . He completed his habilitation in 1746. A year later he was rector in Plauen and in 1759 in Bautzen. During his 30-year career in Bautzen, he was able to lead the high school to a new prime. After Rost's death, his son Friedrich Wilhelm Ehrenfried Rost published his work Epigrammata in 1791 .
