Christoph Rummel

Christoph Rummel (born October 15, 1881 in Lorsch ; † November 15, 1961 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German architect who stood out primarily in the field of Catholic sacred architecture and worked mainly from Frankfurt am Main.

Life

After leaving school, he studied at the Technical University of Darmstadt and graduated as a graduate engineer. He first attracted attention in 1911/1912 for the competition entry worked out jointly by his brother Hans Rummel (1872–1952) for a preliminary design for the urban design of the Frankfurter Meadows in Leipzig , which was awarded one of several 3rd prizes of 5,000 marks .

In addition to working together with his brother from 1921 to 1935, they both designed the war memorial altar Christ the Risen Christ as Victory over Death, which was executed by the sculptors Martin Henrich and Johann (Jean) Herber in the parish church of St. Mauritius in Frankfurt-Schwanheim October 1927 was consecrated.

The Catholic Church of St. Martin, Rotlintallee 9 in Kelkheim , built between 1947 and 1952, is attributed to Christoph Rummel as a single work .
