Christoph Takacs

Christoph Takacs (born May 22, 1963 in Bad Ischl , Upper Austria ) is an Austrian journalist . Since January 1, 2017 he has been regional director of the ORF regional studio in Salzburg . From 2011 to 2016 he was editor-in-chief of ORF III .

Life

Christoph Takacs was born in Bad Ischl in the Salzkammergut and grew up in Wels in Upper Austria. After attending school, he studied law. During his studies he came into contact with journalism more by chance in 1989. In 1990 he began a traineeship at the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation on ORF Upper Austria. He worked as an editor, LIVE reporter, head of duty and presenter for Radio Upper Austria and the TV news show Upper Austria today . His teachers were well-known journalistic personalities such as Franz Rohrhofer , Kurt Rammerstorfer , Reinhard Mildner , Johannes Fischer and, for many years, Hannes Leopoldseder as director of the ORF regional studio in Upper Austria. In addition to many other innovations, Takacs also implemented the first air traffic information in Austria.

A new era of traffic information began in Austria with Radio Oberösterreich Überflieger. Initiated by the then director of the ORF Landesstudios Upper Austria, Hannes Leopoldseder , Takacs not only developed the format "Traffic information from the air", but also personified the "Radio Upper Austria Überflieger" for a long time. In February 1999 he was appointed head of public relations at the ORF regional studio in Upper Austria. In December of the same year he followed a call to the ORF center and became deputy head of the ORF television magazine Willkommen Österreich as well as the head of the "news desk" for this program.

In 2003 he was appointed deputy head of the ORF chronicle magazine Thema . The highlight was the editorial implementation and production of the first interview by Christoph Feurstein with Natascha Kampusch after her escape. The authorization of the TV interviews was done with Natascha Kampusch and her then advisory and supervisory staff under the leadership of Christoph Takacs. Almost 2.5 million viewers followed the media event in Austria alone. The interview was broadcast by television stations around the world.

In 2007 Takacs was commissioned to develop a current Austria magazine for the previous evening. On April 12, 2007, he started with "Today in Austria", the longest current weekly information broadcast on ORF to date. In September 2010 he was called to the project team that developed the ORF special-interest channel ORF III from TW1 . From the start of ORF III on October 26, 2011 until the end of 2016, Christoph Takacs was the station's editor-in-chief and moderator of the programs "Im Brennpunkt", "Politics LIVE" and 60 Minuten Politik, and hosted the series "The whole interview".
