Christopher Neumayer (born April 29, 1992 in Radstadt , Salzburg ) is an Austrian ski racer . He currently belongs to the A-squad of the Austrian Ski Association and specializes in the fast downhill and super-G disciplines.

Christopher Neumayer comes from Radstadt and starts for the local ski club.

Neumayer competed in his first FIS races at the age of 15 . In January 2012 he made his European Cup debut in the giant slalom in Zell am See . The Super-G emerged as his favorite discipline in the coming winters; he achieved his first top result with fourth place in January 2014 in Crans-Montana . A year later Neumayer made his debut in the giant slalom at Chuenisbärgli in the World Cup . Almost two weeks later, he celebrated his first European Cup victory in Val-d'Isère and finished sixth in the Super G discipline at the end of the 2014/15 season . In the following year he improved to fifth place in this ranking.

At the end of the 2016/17 season, he finished third in the Austrian and German Super-G championships in Saalbach within a few days . He achieved prestige success at the Swiss championships in Davos , where he prevailed against the reigning world champion Beat Feuz in the downhill . After suffering from unexplained neck pain for a long time, he was diagnosed with spondylolisthesis in the summer of 2017 .

The 2017/18 European Cup season was very successful for Neumayer. With a victory in the downhill from Kvitfjell and two further podium places, he secured victory in the discipline classification and thus a fixed place for the following World Cup winter. He finished sixth in the overall standings. On November 30, 2018, he won World Cup points for the first time with rank 27 in the downhill from Beaver Creek . His best result for the time being was in December 2019 with 17th place in the second downhill from Bormio . The following day he came in Combination Super-G hard to fall and pulled it a crack the anterior cruciate ligament in the left knee.

Christopher Neumayer is in a relationship with cross-country skier and biathlete Fabienne Hartweger . His brother Bernard, one year older, is a professional golfer and partner of the former snowboarder and Olympian Heidi Krings .
