Chris Norbury (born August 14, 1986 in Accrington , Lancashire ) is an English snooker player .

Career

Norbury's greatest success in youth was reaching the finals at the U-19 European Championship in 2005, where he was narrowly defeated by Mark Allen . In the same year he was able to secure participation in the Snooker Main Tour by placing 5th in the Challenge Tour ranking . In his first year he reached the round of 32 at the Grand Prix and with two more first round victories he made it to 76th place in the season statement and thus the qualification for another year. In the 2006/07 season, however, he could not improve enough to keep himself in the top 64 and thus on the Main Tour.

In the next few years, Norbury had to try to qualify again via the PIOS tournaments. In the 2008/09 season he missed the top 8 in the overall standings by 10 points despite a tournament victory. But since the winner of the series Joe Jogia was qualified via a wildcard, he moved up for him. However, his second attempt as a professional was disappointing, as he was eliminated in five of the six ranking tournaments in the first round and two wins at the China Open could not make up for this.

Despite trying both the Players Tour Championship and Q School for the next two years , he failed to make the Main Tour return. It was not until the 2012/13 season that he was able to collect enough points through regular participation in the PTC, even without an outstanding result, to secure the eighth and final qualification place in the amateur standings and thus another year of professional tour.
