Churches and other sights
- Panagia Kera
The origins of the cross- domed church Panagia Kera (Παναγία Κερά) go back to the 11th century, a total of four construction phases can be proven. The north and south wings are rounded, similar to an apse . To separate the church and the chancel, a wall was drawn in in the 14th century, and later in the same century the church was extended to the west. At the transition from the 15th century to the 16th century, a single-nave chapel was added, which is dedicated to Agia Anna. Frescos have been preserved in several layers, the oldest dating back to the 11th century, most of them from the second half of the 14th century.
- Agios Eftychios
The church of Agios Eftychios (Άγιος Ευτύχιος) is about 1.5 kilometers northeast of the village above a dry stream in the Perdiki Metochi area. Presumably the church was founded by Ioannis Xenos in the second half of the 10th century. Although the church has the appearance of a three-aisled basilica from the outside, it is of the cross-domed church type because the west and east wings are significantly longer than the north and south wings. The frescoes date from the 11th century.
- Military museum
Of the many buildings of Venetian origin, Villa Clodio is the most important. The villa stands at the southern exit of the village and today houses the military museum. It was once used as a summer residence for the noble Venetian family Clodio. During the Ottoman period it was the seat of Agha . In 1985 the owner at that time donated the building to the village and it was transferred to the General Staff of the Greek Army (ΓΕΣ) to set up a military museum in 1997. From autumn 2003 to 2009 the building was extensively renovated, and in January 2010 the museum went into operation .
The old oil mill of Prinari has been completely renovated and keeps old equipment for the production of olive oil.
Others
On July 27th the village celebrates the name day of Agios Pandeleimon . The public buses of the KTEL network operate two connections between Chromonastiri and Rethymno every day, except on weekends.
