Viticulture is of great importance here, but fruit growing and the production of olive oil should also be mentioned.
In addition, tourism has gained in importance, especially since the opening of the Água Hotels Douro Scala hotel complex in 2012, which is housed in the Quinta do Paço , a baroque estate from the 17th century with origins in the 16th century. Hiking trails have been set up, such as the 12 km long Percurso Pedestre Cimo da Vila (PR1), which leads past old chapels, wineries and villages on old footpaths through the surrounding elevations.
