Cinzia Tomezzoli (born April 16, 1988 in Zurich ) is a Swiss basketball player .

Career

Cinzia Tomezzoli first played for the BC fountain in the National League A. 2007 denied them still in junior age, along with the fountain Ligacupfinal and won their first title. In addition, she was a member of the U21 national team.

However, on July 17, 2009, she suffered a stroke of fate when her foot was run over by a truck on the Hardbrücke in Zurich . As a result of the accident, she lost three toes and, according to her doctors, she should play chess instead of basketball in the future. However, Tomezzoli fought her way back: a year after the accident she trained again at BC Frauenfeld, and two years later she played for BC Winterthur in the 2nd division. With her as captain, the club rose three times over the next few years and played in the National League A from 2015 onwards. In September 2015, she was called up for training for the national team for the first time. In December 2015, her story was portrayed in the program sportpanorama on SRF Zwei. On February 20, 2016, she played for the Swiss national team against Bulgaria for the first time . In 2017 she won the Swiss Cup and the Indoor Sports Supercup together with BC Winterthur . In 2019 she won the cup for the second time with BC Winterthur, and in 2020 she won the SBL Cup with the team for the second time in her career .

In 2018 she was voted Winterthur athlete of the year .
