The Clarée is a river in France that runs in the Hautes-Alpes department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region . It rises in the Cottian Alps , near the Mont Thabor (3178 m), in the municipality of Névache . The source is located below the Col de l'Aiguille Noire , right on the border with the neighboring Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region ; the source stream is initially called Ruisseau des Rochilles . The Clarée generally drains in a south-easterly direction, always parallel to the Italian border, and flows into the Durance as a right tributary after 32 kilometers at the municipal boundary of Val-des-Prés and Montgenèvre .
