Claudia Doren

Claudia Doren (born November 4, 1931 as Edith Strasser in Neunkirchen , † February 19, 1987 ) was a German television announcer . She was an employee of the WDR and could be seen on ARD for more than 30 years . Her trademark were the diverse wigs - she almost never appeared on television without them.

Life

The TV announcer, who became known under the stage name Doren , passed a French interpreting exam after completing secondary school and then completed an acting training.

From October 1, 1955, she led the Saarland radio through the regional program. On July 1, 1956, she switched to NDR , where she took over national announcements on ARD. On December 1, 1957, she started working for WDR.

From 1956 to 1966 she was married to the composer Roland Kovac . Both the son Alexander, born on January 30, 1959, and the son Boris, born on April 27, 1961, could be seen (under the name Kovac) in mostly smaller film roles on television. Having become the epitome of the television announcer, Doren, who liked the bizarre comedian Marty Feldman , also appeared in 1971 as an announcer in the German production of the British Monty Python team, Monty Python's Flying Circus . Twice, in 1964 and 1965, she read the German jury rating at the Eurovision Song Contest .

She died at the age of 55 years from the effects of cancer .
