Claudia Eder (born February 7, 1948 in Augsburg ) is a German opera, lied and concert singer with a mezzo-soprano voice .

Life

Claudia Eder studied singing and violoncello at the University of Music and Theater in Munich and the University of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt am Main . She continued her studies in Milan and Budapest. Singing teachers were Marianne Schech , Elsa Cavelti , Jenö Sipos and Maria Castellani . At the age of 25 she made her debut in the role of La Muse / Niklausse in Hoffmann's Tales at the Bielefeld Theater . This was followed by engagements at the Hessian State Theater in Wiesbaden and at the State Theater on Gärtnerplatz . Further stations were the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf and the Volksoper Vienna . Numerous guest contracts have taken Eder to major European and non-European music stages, including Barcelona, ​​Madrid, London, Turin, Venice, Rome, Paris, Geneva, Antwerp, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Tokyo. She took part in the Salzburg Festival , the Vienna Festival , the Schwetzinger Festival , the Donaueschinger Musiktage and the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, among others .

In 1988 Claudia Eder received a professorship for singing at the Mainz University of Music . There she founded the International Summer School Singing Summer in 2004 and Barock vokal in 2010 , an excellence program for young opera and concert singers. She also gives master classes at home and abroad.

In 2009, under her leadership, the singing department was awarded the prize for outstanding achievements in studies, teaching and artistic development work in the Rhineland-Palatinate excellence competition.

They also worked since 1991 as project manager, director and vocal coach for the International Festival of young opera singers of the Chamber Opera Rheinsberg Castle .

In addition to her diverse tasks, Claudia Eder is also active as a lieder and concert singer on national and international podiums. Her repertoire ranges from the Renaissance through the Baroque to the modern era and includes the genres opera , song and oratorio .

Claudia Eder is a member of the Academy of Sciences and Literature Mainz and the European Academy of Sciences and Arts .
