Claudia Müller (* 1964 in Bergneustadt ) is a German journalist and director .

biography

Claudia Müller studied German , journalism and philosophy in Berlin and has been working as a freelance television writer since 1988. After numerous magazine articles about artists, writers and filmmakers such as Peter Greenaway , Ulrike Ottinger or Jeanine Meerapfel , she realized her first television feature in 2000 about Nobel Prize winner Günter Blobel (“The Cell, the City and Walking”). Since 1999 she has been filming the work of the American artist Jenny Holzer for ten years. Her film About Jenny Holzer was made in 2009 in co-production with SWR / Arte and Swiss television and her production company "Phlox Films".

During these years he also made several television portraits for the documentary series Mein Leben for ZDF / Arte über, Max Raabe , Jim Rakete , Susanne Lothar , Annette Humpe , Hans Neuenfels . For the WDR documentary series The Best in the West she realized and produced films about Elke Heidenreich and Hape Kerkeling . In the ARD series Deutschland Deine Künstler , her portrait was about Vicco von Bülow alias Loriot , with whom she conducted the last television interview two years before his death. In 2010 she shot the film "In love with the GDR" about the writer Ronald M. Schernikau, who died early. A portrait of the Iranian-American artist Shirin Neshat for the Arte series “Art and Culture” .

In 2011 she realized the 6-part art series Art Clash for ZDFkultur , and in 2012 the TV feature New York, City on the Water for ZDF / Arte . Her 10-part vegetarian documentary series Hoffmann's fabulous world of vegetables with chef Michael Hoffmann has been broadcast on Arte since autumn 2013 and continued in 2014.

Her films about Elke Heidenreich and Ronald M. Schernikau were nominated for the Literavision Prize of the City of Munich. About Jenny Holzer was shown at numerous international art documentary festivals. Claudia Müller lives in Berlin.
