Claudia Wiechmann

Claudia Wiechmann (born September 13, 1955 in Zschornewitz ) is a German politician .

Life

Wiechmann is the daughter of the politician Rudi Wiechmann . After graduating from high school, she studied at the Berlin-Weißensee School of Art in 1974/75 . In the evening course she completed an apprenticeship as an engineering economist and then worked as a department manager at the post and telecommunications office in Dessau . Early 1990 she worked for the People's Welfare in the field . She later worked as a freelance florist until she moved into the state parliament . Wiechmann is married and has two children.

In 1988/89 Wiechmann was a member of the SED . After German reunification , she became a member of the DVU , for which she entered the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt in 1998. At the end of 1999 she became the group leader there. After a violent dispute with the federal party, part of the parliamentary group in the state parliament renamed itself the Freedom German People's Party (FDVP), the party of the same name was founded in June 2000, of which she was also the federal chairman. She was a member of the state parliament until 2002. In October 2003 the FDVP was integrated into the DP . From 2003 to 2005 Wiechmann was deputy federal chairwoman of the DP, from 2005 to 2007 she was federal chairwoman there. Her father Rudi Wiechmann was also a member of the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt from 1998 to 2002. In the 2004 European elections she came in second on the DP federal list.
