Claus Wagner (sports official)

Claus Wagner (* 1947 in Marktl ; † 2016 in Ingolstadt ) was a German sports official in the field of table tennis .

Life

Claus Wagner was born in Marktl in 1947. At the age of 15 he started playing table tennis. He grew up in Weißenburg in Bavaria .

Wagner was Vice President of the Bavarian Table Tennis Association from 1988 and President of the Bavarian Table Tennis Association until his death in 1994 . Until the dissolution of the South German Table Tennis Association , he was its president. He was also chairman of the TSV 1860 Weißenburg .

He also held the office of a district councilor in the Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district and as a city councilor in Treuchtlingen for the SPD . He was a teacher and later director of a primary school.

Wagner died of cancer at the age of 68 in the Ingolstadt Clinic . He was buried in the southern cemetery in Weißenburg on May 17, 2016.

Claus Wagner left his wife Maria. He had two children.
