Clemens-August Krapp (born July 23, 1938 in Steinfeld (Oldenburg) ) is a German politician ( CDU ) who held offices at local and state levels.

After attending school in Steinfeld and Lohne , Krapp joined his father's iron shop in Steinfeld, Clemens Krapp KG, in 1954. From 1973 he was her sole owner; In 1976 the company headquarters were relocated to Lohne. Until 2015, Krapp was managing director of this company, which has now been renamed Krapp Eisen GmbH & Co KG, alongside his son Roland.

From 1968 to 2001 Krapp was a member of the district council of the district of Vechta . He acted as honorary district administrator from 1972 to 2001; then he was appointed honorary district administrator. From 1974 to 1994 he was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament ; from 1982 to 1990 he chaired the parliamentary committee for economy and transport. As an MdL, he was also particularly involved in issues related to the Concordat with the Catholic Church and questions of faith in the broader sense. In 1993, Krapp was the only one to reject the Lower Saxony constitution , which did not contain any reference to God . In 2000 he defended u. a. In an interview with the controversial Junge Freiheit , the unlawful alleged word of honor of the former CDU chairman Helmut Kohl in the CDU donation affair and called on the CDU members to make special donations to the party in order to compensate for the millions in damage caused by Kohl.

Clemens-August Krapp was chairman of the Junge Union in the Oldenburg regional association . From 1971 to 1992 he was chairman of the CDU district association Vechta.

Krapp is Catholic and has three children.

He is a member of the General Assembly of the Central Committee of German Catholics . From 2005 to 2009 he was federal chairman of the Federal Association of Catholics in Business and Administration (KKV) . He was awarded the Great Cross of Merit of the Lower Saxony Order of Merit.
