Clements Hills AVA (recognized July 17, 2006) is a wine-growing region in the US state of California . The area is in the administrative area of San Joaquin County . The protected designation of origin lies in the southeast of the superior Lodi AVA . The rolling hills along the Mokelumne River are 27 m (90 ft) and 122 m (400 ft) above sea level. NN . Due to the topography, an abundance of microclimates can form within the wine-growing area . The soil consists of alluvial land with a high proportion of limestone and clay . The alluvial land lies on a base made of granite and rock of volcanic origin.
