Colin Donnell (born October 9, 1982 in St. Louis , Missouri ) is an American actor .

Life

Colin Donnell was born in St. Louis , the youngest of three brothers . His ancestors come from Ireland and France . He began acting in high school. There he was part of a performance of the musical Barnum . He also had singing lessons. Donnell graduated from Indiana University Bloomington , Indiana , with a degree in 2005 .

Colin Donnell was a part of many musicals during his time on Broadway . For example, he has appeared in Mamma Mia! and Wicked - The Witches of Oz . He was also seen in the musical Anything Goes for a long time , which earned him several award nominations. He had his first television role from 2011 to 2012 in the television series Pan Am , which starred in the flight crew of Pan American World Airways . He had his first series lead role from 2012 to 2013 on The CW series Arrow as Tommy Merlyn , the main character's best friend. He embodied this up to the season finale of the first season and in one episode of the second and two episodes of the third season. In late May 2015, he was engaged for a leading role in the Chicago Fire spin-off Chicago Med .

In December 2014, Donnell got engaged to the actress Patti Murin, whom he met in spring 2013 through his work in the musical for Lost Love Labor. The two married on June 19, 2015 in New York City .
