history

In addition to the three founders, there were also numerous Surrealists and non-conformist intellectuals as well as others at the Collège . a. Walter Benjamin , Hans Mayer , Alexandre Kojève , André Masson and Pierre Klossowski are involved.

The aim of the Collège was to establish a sacred sociology based on the Durkheim School and in particular on Marcel Mauss and Robert Hertz . In addition, the Collège - especially Bataille - was concerned with establishing new myths and creating communities that would put a stop to the threat of fascism . The thesis was that, above all, an individualistic society was no longer safe from fascism. The effects of the Collège extend to Michel Foucault , Jacques Derrida , Emmanuel Levinas , Jean-Luc Nancy , Michel Maffesoli and Jean Baudrillard .

Some of the members of the Collèges de Sociologie, especially Bataille, were involved in the secret society Acéphale and the magazine of the same name.
