Colquechaca is a town in the Potosí department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
Colquechaca is the central place of the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Colquechaca and capital of the province Chayanta . The village is located at an altitude of 4167 m halfway between the capital Sucre and Lake Poopó .

Colquechaca is located in the central western section of the Bolivian Cordillera Central , which extends as part of the eastern Andean chain between the Altiplano in the west and the Bolivian lowlands in the east. The region's climate is typical of the time of day , with mean temperatures fluctuating more during the day than during the year.

Transport network
Colquechaca is located 171 kilometers by road north of Potosí , the capital of the department.
From Potosí the highway Ruta 1 leads in a north-westerly direction to Cruce Culta (formerly: Ventilla ) and on via Oruro towards La Paz and Lake Titicaca . In Cruce Culta a dirt road branches off to the north and after 38 kilometers reaches Ruta 6 , two kilometers north of the village of Macha . From Macha , an unpaved road leads north-east up the Río Jachcha Kallpa , crosses the river after eight kilometers, and after a total of twenty kilometers reaches Colquechaca, 600 meters higher .
