The Municipio Colquechaca ( Aymara and Quechua : qullqi chaka , "silver bridge ") is a district in the Potosí department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
The municipality of Colquechaca is one of four municipalities in the province of Chayanta . It is bordered to the north by the province of Charcas , in the northeast of the municipality Pocoata , on the west by the department of Oruro , on the south by Tomás Frías Province , on the east by the Ocurí Municipality , and on the northeast by the municipality of Ravelo .
The central place of the municipality is the provincial capital Colquechaca with 4,272 inhabitants ( 2012 census ) in the northern part of the district.
geography
The municipality of Colquechaca is located in the central western section of the Bolivian Cordillera Central , which extends as part of the eastern Andean chain between the Altiplano in the west and the Bolivian lowlands in the east. The climate is typical of the time of day , in which temperatures fluctuate more during the day than during the year.
The long-term average annual temperature is around 4 ° C (see climate diagram), the monthly values range between 0 ° C in June / July and 6 ° C from November to January. The annual rainfall is 460 mm, from May to August there is a dry season of less than 5 mm of precipitation per month, while the amount of precipitation in January and February reaches about 100 mm.
