Conda is a village and a district in Angola .

administration

Conda is the seat of a district of the same name ( Municipio ) in the province of Cuanza Sul . The district covers 2090 km² with 76,942 inhabitants (2013 estimate). The 2014 census should now provide accurate population data.

Two municipalities (Comunas) form the Conda district:

For this purpose, Assango II and Jombe, two áreas administrativas have been set up, smaller administrative units next to the Comunas.

In addition to the municipal seats, Gaunge, Caunje, Chilumbo, Cumbira, Dele, Gumba, Hanga, Limba, Munguanda, Tocota and Zambia are among the most important localities in the district.

economy

The ongoing new construction and repairs to the roads in the region are intended to stimulate trade and, above all, enable the agricultural goods produced here to be transported without problems. This includes coffee production, which continues to gain in importance. Conda is located in the country's traditional coffee-growing region. Between 1973 and 1974, Angola had the largest coffee production in Africa with over 204,000 tons. With the outbreak of the Angolan civil war in 1975, the Portuguese coffee planters left their plantations and coffee growing fell into disrepair. Since 2013, the cultivation of Robusta coffee has been intensified again with the support of the provincial government. The district of Conda expects important impulses for the local economy, should it succeed in expanding local coffee production.

The main natural resources in the district include quartz and gold .

In addition, tourism is gaining importance in the district. In 2009, 3753 tourists visited the district, after 2768 in the previous year. From the public side, the infrastructure is to be improved and investors in the tourism industry are to be motivated to get involved in the district. The main attractions are the thermal springs of Tocota and the Binga waterfalls.
