condomi
condomi is a brand name of Ansell GmbH , a German subsidiary of the Australian Ansell Group , with offices in Cologne , headquarters in Munich and a production facility in Erfurt .
history
Oliver Gothe, Peter Klandt and Peter Ruchartz founded the company in 1988 during their community service . The condomi store in Cologne was the first specialty store for condoms in Germany . Through franchising , condomi expanded quickly, first within Germany, then also abroad ( Spain , Austria , Greece ). The condomi Gothe & Partner GmbH was established in 1993. In 1997 condomi took over Everts Erfurt GmbH , the oldest German condom factory, and thus became the leading condom manufacturer in Europe (production capacity: 720 million condoms per year). One year later, the company was converted to condomi AG . condomi shares have been traded since 1999. In 2001 condomi manufactured 370 million condoms a year. In addition to its own sales via the Cologne store, the company also cooperates with other companies, such as MCM Klosterfrau Vertriebs GmbH , which has since acted as a national distributor. This cooperation enables condomi to sell through pharmacies , drugstores and food retailers in Germany.
In 2003 condomi AG ran into serious financial difficulties. At that time it had 450 employees and subsidiaries in Austria, Italy , France and the United Kingdom . In total, condomi is represented in over 50 countries. An already planned takeover by the Beate Uhse Group failed in 2004. condomi became a need for restructuring and there was speculation in financial circles about an imminent bankruptcy. In 2005 the trademark rights and the majority of the condomi AG production facility went to its Polish subsidiary Unimil for EUR 2.37 million . In 2006 they announced that they would keep the 140 jobs in Erfurt and increase production capacity to around 900 million condoms per year. Meanwhile, the condomi share fell to the Pennystock level.
At the beginning of 2007, the Australian Ansell group acquired the entire Polish Unimil group including condomi health international GmbH with the associated trademark rights and condomi erfurt produktionsgesellschaft mbH . Since then, the German condomi health international GmbH , based in Cologne, has been officially operating as Ansell GmbH .
Insolvency proceedings against condomi AG in 2007
In 2007, insolvency proceedings were initiated against the condomi AG stock corporation . The independent condomi health international GmbH (wholly owned subsidiary of the Polish Unimil ), however, pretended to own the trademark rights. Most of the production in Erfurt was also a subsidiary of Unimil . It was assumed that condomi AG continued to have an indirect share of approx. 24% in the production in Erfurt. An insolvency expert appointed by the Cologne District Court examined the extent to which the transfer of valuables from the assets of condomi AG to Unimil was effective without a resolution of the general meeting . This involved the illegal transfer of trademark rights , distribution agreements, shares in subsidiaries - in particular the condomi production company in Erfurt - or the condomi retail business. The last board member of condomi AG , Tadeusz Sobierajski from Poland, could not be reached by the appraiser appointed by the Cologne District Court after the application for insolvency. The listing was revoked at the end of 2010 on behalf of the insolvency administrator .
